The microchip is a small device that is inserted under the skin of your dog or cat which has a unique number that can be tracked back to you. Unlike i.d. tags, your pets microchip will always be with them.

Every year more than 10 million pets get lost including “indoor only” cats and dogs. Of those 10 million, 90% will not return home due to a lack of effective identification. This is the number one cause of death among pets. A microchip can ensure your pet’s safety if they are ever lost and then found. It is a fast, safe, and inexpensive way to give you peace of mind.

How much does the microchip cost?

Blue Cross Animal Hospital provides pet microchips for $41.99. We will implant a microchip and enroll your pet in HomeAgain’s (www.homeagain.com) “pet recovery service” for the first year. If your pet already has a microchip implanted that is not registered, we can enroll your pet for only $16.99.

What benefits are included with my pet microchip?

With enrollment (included in our price) will receive:

  • Your pet’s microchip will remain active for the lifetime of the pet.  The annual renewal cost is only for the insurance described below, not for the microchip itself.
  • There is no charge to update your personal information with Home Again, as opposed to other Microchip companies.
  • Free 24 hours a day 7 days a week access to a medical advice hotline in the event of an emergency (in comparison Poison Control will charge up to $60 per call)
  • If your pet becomes injured while they are lost, Home Again will cover up to $3,000 in medical costs (visit www.homeagain.com for details). This service is free for the first year of enrollment. After one year, you will receive notification from Home Again about the renewal of this service.  The annual for this insurance is currently $16.99.
